Heart and Sole Race Kick Starts United Way's Annual Campaign
WOOSTER -- The Heart and Sole Race jumped off the starting line for the United Way's annual campaign Saturday (August 21) morning.
As the kickoff event for the local chapter's campaign to raise $1.35 million this year, campaign organizers were pleased with the turnout.
James Carpenter, assistant director of the local United Way chapter, was pleased with the record turnout for the race. He said 530 runners and walkers participated, with 438 preregistering. Carpenter added this is the second year in a row the race has been held in August. Read more …
AEP: Helping Right Here at Home
American Electric Power (AEP) recently awarded United Way of Wayne & Holmes Counties $6,141.00 to be used to support low-income residents who are facing hunger, loss of housing or the inability to gain access to health care providers in our communities. The money helped 31 local families in the first quarter of 2010 through a partnership with People to People Ministries in Wooster. Read more …
