Are you raising
your grandchildren? If so, you are not alone. According to
the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Task Force Report,
issued by the Ohio Department of Aging, grandparents are filling
the role of primary caregivers to their grandchildren in 10%
of all Ohio households with children. According to the 1990
Census Data 167,199 Ohio children live with their grandparents.
The most common situations caregivers
in this situation face are:
- Inability to obtain public assistance
- Obtain medical care
- Enroll grandchildren in school

Additionally, many kinship
caregivers are left to care for children scarred by the abuse
and neglect of their parents. Because many older adults are
raising their second families and are not aware of the services
available to help, InfoLink is providing Kinship Care
services to help make this sometimes overwhelming situation
a little less stressful.
Regardless of the circumstances
that have made these arrangements necessary, all kinship care
families share the same need for resources, information and
government and community support. InfoLinks Kinship
Caregiver Support Services seeks to address these needs.
